About

My name is Joe Diamond, an 18-year-old aspiring Sports Journalist and the founder of TracksideOffside. As my blog title hopefully hints at, the primary gage of this site is to cover all things Motorsport and Football, with the initial sport perhaps more so.

TracksideOffside was set-up in May 2011 by yours truly, as a platform to launch my journalistic venture into sport, and share my work with what I hope is an interested internet audience. Throughout it's running, I have posted a variety of reviews, previews, rants, feature-pieces, and interviews, all concerning my two favourite areas of sporting interest, Football and Motorsport. I have also wrote entries for a number of other sport-websites, and continue to do so.

Since the years of Primary School, muddy trousers and playing with Lego, I have been an avid follower of Formula One, with my earliest memories of the sport sourcing from Ferrari and Michael Schumacher's early-noughties dominance. Since then, I have grown to appreciate, quite literally, all forms of Motorsport, from the BTCC to AMA Superbikes, Formula 3 to V8 Supercars, and the GP2 Series to the British Superbike Championship. I often have something to say or to write on the sport, so expect to see regular posts popping up on the site.

As for Football, and as with the majority of English males, it's a sincere passion. As a Leicester City fan, I feel I am grounded and retrospective in my views on the world of Football; this is thanks to years of dashed hopes and false dawns concerning my beloved team, not that im a cynic at all. Well, maybe a bit.

I am currently studying, yes you guessed it, Journalism, at Sheffield Hallam University. My current plan is to undertake a master's-degree in Sports Journalism, after my undergraduate course has concluded.

Alongside my blogging activity and academic commitments, I am a great believer in seizing every opportunity presented, and so constantly strive to volunteer and offer myself to opportunities that benefit my budding career, with determination and a 'work-hard' ethic at the core of my efforts.

I have worked with BBC 5 Live and BBC Sport on a number of occasions, most noticeably as part of the production team for the 2012 Sports Personality of the Year Awards, and Octoberfest 2012.

I am always looking to improve as a journalist, and welcome with open arms any feedback, advice, opportunities and partnerships, so please, feel free to contact me!
